The Saint Louis Symphony Recording Company, parent company of Arch Media, is an unprecedented collaboration of the Saint Louis Symphony Society, the Saint Louis Symphony Musicians, and the American Federation of Musicians. This collaboration was one orchestra's response to the sharp decline in classical music recording activity and economic changes in the music industry. Organized as a Missouri not-for-profit corporation, the Saint Louis Symphony Recording Company is governed by a seven member Board of Directors, three elected by the orchestra, three by the Symphony Society, and one elected by a super majority of the other directors. The primary mission is to record and distribute recordings of the Saint Louis Symphony, but the company looks ahead to recording and producing other musical ensembles as well.
